Process Book

Assemble a process binder of everything you have done for this class.

The process book is a record of your creative journey. It contains all sketches, notes, assignment briefs, ideas, versions, iterations, and final work for every project you have and will do in Graphic Design 1.

The process document is an ongoing and detailed record of all work, readings, and other visual inspiration and influence throughout the term in dedicated 3-ring binder. All drawings, notes and other materials will be designed in inDesign, printed, and inserted in your 3-ring binder.

The process book requirements are:

  1. A front cover graphic inserted into the cover sleeve. This is an object of design so act accordingly and create a beautiful an functional introduction to the work it contains. In that spirit the design should reflect (or not conflict with) the type of work we have been doing in this class. It can be simple or complex as you desire. The cover must have:
    • Graphic Design II
    • Your name
    • year and semester
  2. A back cover design that is sympathetic  to the front cover. This does not necessarily need text but must relate visually to the style of the front.
  3. A spine design inserted into the spine pocket with the cover text and design elements.
  4. All readings posted to the class site. Print the readings and copy your responses to the readings and include them.
  5. A labeled tab system that divides all sections and projects. Section dividers should have interstitial (separator) pages with large text indication the section name.
  6. All project briefs. Print these from the web.
  7. All final work submitted for evaluation in pocket pages.
  8. All other versions of comps laid out in smaller grids using InDesign. Try placing 9-12 comps per page.
  9. Scans of all thumbnails and notes from any sketchbooks you may have written in for the assignments.
  10. The book must be arranged chronologically.
  11. The format for the pages of the process book is 8.5″ x 11″ vertical.
