My Thoughts On The Reading From Paul Rand
Paul Rand has an interesting point of view with student learning that I very much agree with. He states that there should be a mix of logical and theoretical practice so students can understand all of the principles on a basic level. I think this is super important because as a future educator it is very important for teachers to look at things from a student’s perspective. This is interesting because by the time most people get to the teaching role they have dreamed of, they tend to forget that they were students once too. It is very important for teachers to not only teach but also learn from a student’s perspective, this will allow all people in the classroom to be successful. Another thing that is important is discipline. Not only in the classroom but in assignments and graphic design as well. During our class, we have had to work with limitations and parameters to be able to complete our projects correctly. This is one reason why I think graphic design is so cool because you can create so many cool things with the simplest shapes, letters and rotations. I’ve been really challenging my creativity in this class and I love it. I am able to test the skills that have not only been taught to me but that I have had to look at multiple things from different perspectives. Perspectives play a massive part in our class so far, especially taking just the simple square and using to create so many different things.
