The Design and The Play

My Response

I found the reading “The Design and The Play” by Paul Rand to be a very interesting passage with a lot of good things to take away from it. One thing I really took away from this after reading was that to be creative in design we must not have so many rules controlling our work. Although rules help us as a guideline, it is important to think on your own and not allowing restrictions on how far you can go with your work. Right off the bat, I agreed with his style of learning where the students are learning from there own perspective getting them more motivated in the classroom. A big problem in schools and placing where kids learn is that there are too many rules which limit their use of creativity while working. I personally, would like a teaching style where the teacher engages with the students and gets them more involved in the class making their learning experience worthwhile. I’ve been in classrooms where teachers don’t add excitement making the class boring and hard to pay attention in. I believe that when teachers use limitations it’s just holding back the student or students from their full potential. If teachers across the U.S started allowing students to think kore freely I think it could cause a huge effect on how kids today learn.
