05 The Design and The Play

The reading was kind of hard to comprehend but I understood that Rand’s work was designed to create a memorable experience and a lasting impression. I like the fact that his work helped set new standards for graphic design and logo design. I learned that to create a successful logo, you have to consider the basics, including what logos are, what they are not, and what they are capable of being. The reading tells us a lot about the progress of graphic design. I really agree with the reading when it says “ Progress in art does not lie in extending its limits, but in knowing them better”. I really like this quote because it makes total sense, knowing a subject better gives you the opportunity of diving deeper into it. I agree with the author’s perspective on teaching from my own perspective as a student. He argued that learning should be fun yet structured, incorporating games that allow students to enjoy themselves while engaging their brain in problem-solving activities. I really agree with his statement that some of our school’s little attempts are made to guide the student’s thinking in a logical progression from basic design to applied design.
