Why Do I Like Graphic Design?
Personally, I enjoy making graphic art because there’s so much freedom in what you can create, and it’s all at your fingertips with technology. Unlike other forms of art, you don’t necessarily have to start by free hand. With graphic design, you can start from a photo online and take pieces that you like to construct your own art. And with editing tools, you can make differing cool effects that you wouldn’t normally be able to achieve on paper. I enjoy the creative freedom in graphic design, and although I don’t strive to become a famous designer, perhaps these skills will help me in presenting my ideas to the public eye.
Package Design
This type of design intrigues me because of its three-dimensional shape so there’s more of a focus on a design theme for every side. The design isn’t only on one page, and has to capture the customer’s attention to such a product, with clear information relating to its advertisement. I like the idea of organizing information on a 3D object, and focusing what needs to be in bigger fonts versus smaller in terms of importance/relevance. What makes the product so great has to be illustrated and while that seems like a tricky job, it’s very rewarding when achieved. Book Jacket Design
I like this kind of design because the main focus is to catch someone’s eye toward the book. With prior knowledge of the book’s contents and themes, you can decide what aspect you’ll want to illustrate that can best perk someone’s interest. You can also decide what color schemes best bring out the book’s contents without looking too over- or under-whelming. With book covers you are able to create more artistic design pieces that may be abstract, so there’s more room for creative illustrating.
