My reactions about this reading<\/span><\/h1>\n

Design and Play Instinct <\/span><\/i>by Paul Rand made me realize how important \u201cdiscipline\u201d is in Graphic Designing. Rand says something around the lines– “only after the student has been taught basic disciplines and their application, he then is able to invent his own system for ‘playing the game'”. This quote made me understand that the theoretical study acts as a foundation or as basic principles for a learner and then the use of practical applications make the students unique from each others as they have the freedom to use their unique artistic abilities with the practical applications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I agree with the author\u2019s perspective on teaching from your own perspective as a student. I think this is important because if not, the students\u2019 artistic abilities and imaginations are kept inside a box which is not only disadvantageous for the art world, but also for the artistic freedom of the student.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I found Rand\u2019s quote, \u201ca mind so disciplined should be both more abstract and more concrete” very interesting. I have always respected the existence of both logic<\/em> and imagination<\/em> in a human\u2019s mind. So reading <\/span>Design and Play Instinct <\/span><\/i>by Paul Rand provided me with more reasons to keep doing it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the examples he uses that I found the most interesting was \u201cTangram\u201d. I agree with Rand that the game helps you become resourceful, inventive, and imaginative. It made me think how important it is to keep a children\u2019s imagination alive. However, in the practical world, we can see that the children\u2019 imaginations are often boxed, as a result, killing the artist within them.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
