Framing in the modern world is being eliminated. As it can look more sleek and formal without one. However, in graphic design frames, cropping, and borders are essential. Framing is something both present and absent. There to accentuate the piece but can be ignored to the eye. Cropping can change the shape of the image and help focus the viewers eye. Margins can help emphasize and allow the image to either look larger or smaller. Borders create transitions and allows boundaries. Grids help artists place the image in a well thought out way. Allowing to scale and position the piece correctly in the way that speaks to them. The most know grid the 9 square helps organize and give structure. Borders and framing are also placed under words. The language of words can frame things to be bold and stand out, once again shaping the understanding to the viewer. It can alter the meaning greatly when there is structure lying behind text. The way I see it framing can help better the piece and make a viewer see the art the way the artist intended in. It is way to have the eye catch something in particular that is bold and wouldn’t be present without grids or framing. In my personal experience I think of instagram and how they show us a grid to help place our picture the way we want it to be seen. Cropping and cutting out unwanted pieces. Windows and doors all having framing and grids looking out you can only see the parts where there is glass the wood surrounding creates a blind from the space in front as you can see the glass first then your eyes become aware of the framing around it. Looking at a window outside you notice the framing first then the glass. Grids and frames play a key role to what we see and its purpose is fluid throughout artwork.<\/p>\n
