The History Of Graphic Design<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Introduction<\/em><\/h3>\n

Throughout history, graphic design has shifted rapidly over the centuries. From the start 0f the 1800’s to current design masterpieces, graphic designs continues to change and inspire many across the world. When assigned to research different eras of graphic design history my mind found several styles interesting.\u00a0 Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Cubism, and Psychedelic art periods fascinated me in many ways. These types of art fascinated me throughout the vast change they underwent over the centuries.<\/p>\n

Art Nouveau (1893)<\/em><\/h3>\n

This style of graphic design interested me in many ways. The style looked decorative and elegant looking as if it belonged in a castle. Researching this period in art history<\/a> really fascinated me since it began in the late 1800’s and was outlived towards the 1920’s. Life before that time period was very simplistic<\/a> and basic for design until European artist began to hand draw them with detailed<\/a> lines and typefaces.<\/p>\n

Art Deco (1925)<\/em><\/h3>\n

This style of graphic design grabbed my attention<\/a>. Finding this visually appealing<\/a> art form fascinated me through its rich contrasting colors, use of lines, and bold curves. The use of these techniques make the design flow naturally and shows a sense of luxury<\/a>. This type of graphic design was used in the early 20’s and became popular in advertising and had a purpose. Art Deco earned its special place in art history.<\/p>\n

Cubism (1907)<\/em><\/h3>\n

This style of graphic design fascinated me due to its abstract<\/a> qualities. Cubism designs are found commonly with artists<\/a> such as Pablo Picasso or Paul Cezanne since they are believed to start the root of cubism. These artist use assessed objects and shapes to create an art piece as a whole. The style focuses on two ideas, emulating nature and use perspective<\/a> along with modeling and foreshortening.<\/p>\n

Psychedelic (1960-1970)<\/em><\/h3>\n

This surreal style of graphic design fascinated my interests heavily. Influenced by the heavy drug culture<\/a> of the 60’s and 70’s, Psychedelic<\/a> style of design has hand drawn curvaceous type, while delivering a message to the viewer. This type of graphic design interested me since its most commonly used in band posters<\/a> or used for some form of music. The use of bright and clashing colors draws the eye to the detailed design.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/em><\/h3>\n

Throughout the different eras of design, each of them present their individual strengths. Each style is unique in its own way and has different qualities to offer. While Psychedelic art may present itself as a rambunctious type, Art Deco style can display itself as a luxurious opposite. Nonetheless, each era of graphic design throughout history exemplifies the subjectivity of art itself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
