The article from the reading that grabbed my attention the most was Graphic Design: The new basics by Ellen Lupton, because of how in depth it goes when talking about color and its use. What stood out most was the optical color mixing, it’s a very clever method for creating a unique image, similar to a comic theme. The additive process of dots in certain areas of detail allow the image to have an illusive feel, while following a somewhat simple color Pallet.
Secondly, the way brands may use certain colors for their website, to express an attitude was quite interesting to me. A coffee shop or organic store might use natural earth tones, to symbolize their ideas, or an informative website could use a basic black and white layout to make it seem straightforward. When looking at “The Art of Occupy” and “The Politics of Space” posters, I find myself drawn to the blue poster because it’s more calm and readable. The red poster however is much more bold, and loud, almost hard to look at. I think it shows how much you should take into account a meaningful color scheme when creating a logo, or anything graphic design based with the use of color.
