The reading about framing is very applicable in current events. In photography on the news framing a picture, or cropping, can drastically change the meaning of a picture. I am a photographer so the concept of framing pictures and cropping is not new to me and is very important with composition during a shoot. The very meaning or message communicated in a picture can be changed by revealing or cropping out part of the content. By changing the zoom or tightness in a shot i can make a small group of people look like they are surrounded by lots of people, creating a different vibe for a viewer than is actually present Mise en scene. This is done very often in film when the set requires large groups of people but there are not enough “extras” to fill the area, producers will arrange the bodies they have to create a scene and crop out dead space.
