Framing is seen everywhere, and it is an important aspect in how people view and perceive things. They set the conditions for how someone receives and interprets information. Frames are not always directly visible, and can be created just by cropping an image or using text. Framing is not something that I think about normally when I am viewing something. It is definitely important, but I think it’s something that is not noticed or acknowledged unless you are specifically looking for it.
Grids are another important aspect of the way we view information and other visuals. They provide structure and organization to create a cohesive and easy to view product. Using both of these things in design can change the way someone thinks and feels about the information they are viewing and processing. They can affect how someone perceives the figure in a design, versus the background or other aspects. You can see these things in designs everywhere, from the posters for events in our hallways to the windows and shelves in our rooms.
