I believe that framing is very instrumental to influencing how something is seen. It directs where your eye goes and how you interpret the object that you are looking at. Different framing can change how you visualize something, for examples a black framed mirror looks smaller than a white framed one even if there are the same size, because the black frame creates a more definite border around the mirror. Framing allows the creator to manipulate how we look at something by directing our attention to a certain part of the object. Adding text furthers this manipulation of our interpretation of the framing and the grids. Changing the way the text is framed, changes the way it feels to the reader. I had never thought about it fully but for most object I own with a frame I typically get a white frame because I like that it doesn’t make the object look as closed in as darker frames. Framing and grids create organization throughout our lives wether we realize it consciously or not but this reading really showed me how much it surrounds us in our daily lives.
