Download and read the following PDF: Graphic Design History / Chapter 2.

Make note of the various visual styles and movements in this history. Which styles do you respond to? How is the world of graphic design today informed by yesterday? What similarities and differences can you identify in the way graphic design functions? What makes a work of graphic design great?

Write a blog post about four different periods of graphic design history that were the most interesting to you.

Talk about what interested you in those four areas of design history.

No book reports please! I don’t want you to regurgitate the reading all over me (eew). Your perspective and opinions. A true ‘response’ from your brain to mine. Be specific about specific periods in history. What details do you find fascinating and more importantly why.

I really don’t care if you ‘like’ something unless you can tell me why.

2-3 links for EACH type of graphic design history. You should link to personal web sites, image collections, or even videos. Make sure the links function and go to other sites. Remember to click “the chain” and have it “open in a new tab”.

3-5 photos for EACH of the four types of design history you are interested in.

Write a minimum of 6 concise paragraphs. This includes an introduction paragraph, a minimum of one paragraph for EACH of the four periods of graphic design history you chose, and a summary paragraph. Correct spelling and grammar please.

A well-designed blog post with paragraphs, headers and selective bolding. Looking for a great layout which means to be consistent with your layout choices!
