I’m the type of person to collect things, even if it doesn’t have a use for them at the moment. My thought process usually is that I might need it at a later date. This creates a lot of clutter in my bedroom back at home. I’m also someone who hates bland walls which results in almost every inch of my walls covered in some form of art. As the years went on, my room just became a mass collection of random objects/trinkets and an art collection on my walls.
I had to step back during quarantine and really think about what I need and what I simply just want. Since then I’ve created active space on my desk and bookshelf which showcases/holds only my bare necessities. The active space on my desk really helps when I’m trying to work because it puts me in the right mindset for what I need to do. The active space on my bookshelf helps by making my recently decreased collection of trinkets more aesthetically pleasing to those who enter my room. My walls, I’m afraid will never be an active space as the sight of plainness bothers me but I have gotten better at placing my art so that it is still aesthetically pleasing to the eye. By clearing off my desk and bookshelf, I made the room feel bigger and more open.
