I agree with Paul Rand’s statement with his perspective on teaching. The biggest thing I took away from this reading is about the theoretical and practical problems. One of the biggest reasons that Paul Rand says that there is a problem for students creativity is that its the way they are being taught. Paul gives the suggestion that they students should have more creative freedom when doing their art designs. Allowing students to have more creative freedom means that the student can express themselves more in their art. Having more boundaries and rules limits the ability of an artist performing to their maximum standards. However while I do agree with the way and opinion of Paul Rand I can see how having guidelines is helpful. If someone is struggling with the freedom aspect they may not understand what exactly they are doing. Rules help with guiding artists on the path they should go. Rules push artists towards thinking in a way they may not have thought before. Rules itself can be helpful but I believe if they are too overbearing they will do more harm then good.
