Color Reading

Reading and learning about color gave me a whole new perspective. We see color in our everyday lives, but why are we so blind to it? Color has so many complex features to itself that we all ignore. The only time I really played with the idea of color was in an art class years ago. We learned about the color wheel, but we did not learn about all the different types. Color can bring something to life. It can make an object have an emotion. If something is in the color gray or black it is deemed or perceived as gloomy. More often dark blue is seemed to be as a type of sadness, but when you think of yellows, pinks, and oranges you think of a warm happy feeling. I for instance love the color orange. I have always wondered why I have an attraction to this color as many think its an obnoxious color, but for me it brings me a sense of peace and harmony. Who knew that a color could bring that out in someone! This reading brought out a new way to think why we are attracted or see color as an emotion or feeling. It is seen in our everyday lives and influences us more than we may even realize. We tend to use color as a sense of guidance towards objects that we purchase. I know I certainly will purchase something that has more of a brighter color opposed to something that is darker in color as I have an “attraction” towards the brighter colors. The more we have a favorite color the more we are influenced by it and drives our ways of thinking and acting.
