Grids/Framing

Framing and art were something I hadn’t considered until this reading. As someone who is drawn to more minimalist types of art, it was interesting to me that frames are used to add to a piece. I personally feel that frames depend on the piece someone is working with. If it’s a more crowded piece, a frame will just at to the crowd on the piece. Whereas on a minimalist piece, it will add something to drag the viewer’s eyes to the focal point. It is very interesting to me that a piece of wood around a piece of art can change the whole feel of it. That being said, a piece of art doesn’t necessarily need a frame or a grid on it. It is very much up to the artist and the buyer/viewer.
