Framing/ Grids

I like the concept of framing because it brings attention to a piece of art. When people think of framing, they would typically think of a picture frame for a photo, but the concept of framing goes beyond that. For example, the white “frame” around a text in a book or magazine highlights the words on a page, or maybe the frames around a window. Framing can be used in numerous ways, such as cropping an image, adding borders, and just regular picture frames. Without frames, we would perceive what we look at differently. Some people feel that frames secure an image and emphasize it to help amplify their message, while others feel that it is not necessary. Personally, I feel that framing is interesting because it helps create the story of what an image is trying to tell in a subtle way. Framing is everywhere in our day-to-day life, such as just a simple picture frame, or the border frames around our phones, or frames to windows and doors. In a metaphorical sense, people say that eyes are the windows to our soul, which is the frame to the eye. Frames in my opinion are an important part of art and our everyday surroundings.
