Baskerville is a serif typeface designed in the 1750s by John Baskerville (1706–1775) in Birmingham, England, and cut into metal by punchcutter John Handy.it is known to be a transitional typeface. The creators goal was to make a font that is more legible.Named after the Didot family, famous as printers and type producers, the typeface is based on a collection of related types developed from 1784–1811 by Firmin Didot. This font is more modern. characterized by consistently horizontal stress, flat and unbracketed serifs, and a high contrast between thin and thick strokes, were the final step in typography’s two-hundred-year journey away from calligraphy.
