I found it interesting that graphic design used to be solely black and white, though after reading a bit more, it makes sense; after all, printing in color even now tends to use more ink and more money. Even so, the idea that color used to considered subjective and unstable, and therefore unwanted, is interesting. I may have started out with simple black & white pen and ink designs, but now, I tend to branch out and use colors throughout my artwork.
I’ve never really had a favorite color or even two favorite colors. Experimenting with color is something I do in my website design, my art, my writing, and even my notes for my classes. The ideas and meanings behind colors have always fascinated me, especially in differing cultures and opinions. For example, red is both the color of love, but also the color of blood. It has both positive and negative relations, as does blue when it comes to the sky or the ocean.
Although the readings interest me, I’ve read a lot about color in past classes so I’m not sure my thoughts on colors have changed much after these newest readings. I’ve taken a lot of art classes throughout my life, and my mom is a painter; every room in my house is a different color, with the exterior itself being a bright purple. I’ve grown up surrounded by color and I’ve always loved studying it in all forms of media.
