Color Readings

I felt that these readings on color were very interesting as a whole. Color is a whole topic that people could spend hours talking about that has so many interesting facts behind it that I had definitely overlooked before now. After reading it drew my attention to how much color coincides with psychology. I mean sure I knew that red can represent anger and blue can represent sadness but it is so much more than that. I really thought about it and color is so powerful in the world and each color may mean something to a different person. For instance, a teal color may remind my mom of a flower but it reminds me of the lake that I stayed on when I took a vacation to Montana with my grandmother. The vibrancy of the color also has played a huge role. If you were to open up a children’s book you would see bright and eye-popping colors and that is because it is that vibrancy that draws the child’s eye and helps hold their attention. They are full of energy and that vibrant color represents that in a way. My friend Montana on the other hand is much quieter and reserved and prefers more pastel and dull colors because they appeal more to her personality and way of life. These reading taught me that a piece of work does not always have to be the brightest to be the best because different colors appeal to people differently and it is certainly something to think about when doing not only this next project but even my own art such as my paintings. Maybe instead of trying to be the biggest and brightest I should try a different approach with different lighter colors for contrast and appeal to others besides just myself.
