Graphic Design History

intro

After reading this article I have learned how big graphic design is and how it’s been with us all of our lives. It goes through all types for culture, all types of politics and all types of religions. Although all of these types of movements were very interesting to me but the psychedelic movement, surrealism movement, dada, and constructive.

Psychedelic Movement

The psychedelic movement was a very interning one. It really got popular in the 60’s and 70’s. It was with hippies that would take LSD or shrooms or other psychedelics. They would do this to expand their mind and see things that you would never see if you were sober. I lot of people would close their eyes and then draw the images they would see. I really like these imagines because they are beautiful  with the color schemes they have and the complex imagines they would make. A lot of these pictures have a lot of meaning behind them.

Surrealism

Surrealism is very cool to me and honestly one of my favorites. It’s  kind of a mix between psychedelic and dada. The style is based on crazy dreams people have had or just crazy complex thought they had. I really like this because it is so different than any other type of style. It brings complexity and really makes you think.

Dada

During the World War II there was something called the dada movement. During these times it was a very dark and cruel time because of all the destruction and killing its been happing in the world. The dada movement was created to try to get people together during these trouble times. I find this movement very interesting because of of the types of design they did. It was mostly with real people doing stuff that has a greater meaning behind it.

Constructive

Constructive also the same time during the dada movement but it had a different idea on the meaning towards it. It was used for mainly political reasons to make for of a specific argument. It would try to make fun of a specific governments or organizations. I like it because it expresses almost something so much more in the picture. I like how they will over exaggerate on pictures to make a statement in it.
