In typography,\u00a0kerning<\/b>\u00a0 is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result. Observe this\u00a0example of kerning. The letters have been manually fit together more harmoniously.<\/p>\n

You will kern three words that describe\u00a0you. Do one word on each page. Each page will use all of the five classic typefaces.\u00a0There will be three sheets (one of each word).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kern it!<\/h1>\n

  1. Kern the\u00a03\u00a0words over 5 letters in length to describe on a single vertical 11\u00d717\u2033 sheet of paper.<\/li>\n
  2. The first line is un-kerned. Leave it as it is typed.<\/li>\n
  3. The second line is the same word with letterspaces adjusted to look better.<\/li>\n
  4. Use all 5 different sans-serif and serif typefaces\u00a0for each word.<\/li>\n
  5. Lowercase letters only.<\/li>\n
  6. Put the name of the typeface below the image.<\/li>\n
  7. Use this Template<\/a><\/li>\n
  8. Use only the five classic typefaces.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. Print on an 11×17 piece of paper, making sure that tabloid is chosen under document\/page size.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
