When i came into this class to tell you the truth i thought it was 3d art and making figures out of different materials. I definitely did not read the correct description for the class. So when I zoomed in on the first day of class I was very surprised. But as Rand has said, “The best Renaissance teachers, instead of beating their pupils, spurred them on by a number of appeals to the play-principle”. As someone who works best with seeing things laid out and not just having it said or lecture to me. I have to also agree that if graphic design was taught at a young age it would help many students learn how to process things differently. This would be very influential because it allows them to think for themselves and have more of a creative mind set. It would be great for their problem solving skills to be a lot stronger.

I think Rand’s opinion is a great opinion for the future of how students should be taught. I think more people should take what he is saying more seriously and put it more into the curriculum at a younger age to have them process questions and ways of other problem sets differently in the best way possible. It is a whole new way to look at life and can make things a lot more interesting than just seeing what’s in front of them. It can make them think harder and see other things than just what they are told to see.

The reading “design and play instinct “ by Paul Rand shows me that graphic design is more than just cool shapes and figures that catch people’s attention.
