Reading this chapter made me feel conflicted as someone who wants to make money as a graphic designer, because I can’t help but hate everything to do with corporations. I find it frustrating that anyone would care about whether the Starbucks logo has a circle around it or not, because I have a hard time believing that such things have any effect on whether or not a customer would choose to give Starbucks their business. However, I try to remember that the principles of design and corporate greed are not inherently married to one another and that a brand can be built around good things and the power accrued by said branding can be used for good. I just have to get good at it, I guess. Which is what I’m here to do. I guess.
