MOVIE ANALYSIS – PITCH PERFECT

Overall Reaction:

I have seen Pitch Perfect before, but it has been a long time since I’ve seen it. I LOVE this movie and find it to be timelessly hilarious. I find that watching it now that I am older, I understand much more of the references they joke about. I think each character was played perfectly by the actors and actresses, adding witty and quick humor to every single character. There was a lot of thought put into each character by the actors, down to how they act in the background. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entire movie, and by the end, I felt I had a connection to almost all of the characters. Overall, 8/10 movie!

Characters

Gail

She is one of two commentators for the A Capella national competitions. She narrates with some sass, irony, and a usual hatred for most of the leading characters. She is harsh in her judgments. I imagine she would run her own business, an entrepreneur, for a wellness business. She would, like Bumper, be an influencer but for a vastly different audience.

Bumper

He is the captain of the TrebelMakers. He leads with a strong, and typically unbearable, personality throughout most of the movie. He has a cockiness unlike any other character. I imagine Bumper to be a true “boys-boy,” where all he cares about is himself and the male friends in his life. I think he would be an influencer or entrepreneur, running his own business.

Dr Mitchell

He is Anna Kendrick’s character Beca’s dad. He mainly serves to give reference to Beca’s character, showing that she doesn’t really care about his dad. He said he teaches comparative literature at the university they attend. Of course, I would run with this and imagine that literature is one of the only things he cares about, especially given that his outfit is very ~ dark academia. He would run his own bookstore filled with many candles, cats, dark alleys and corners, and an aroma that could only be represented by sandalwood and musk.
