Thumbnails are an essential part of graphic design. Thumbnails can actually be any size, however the key here is the time spent on developing them. Do not spend more than 1 minute on any one. If you need to draw smaller to accomplish this, do so. The emphasis is on quantity of many different ideas, not on the quality of any one image at this beginning stage.
