Do 3-5 pages of type treatments.
You are not designing yet. You are seeing what typefaces “feel” like your company.
- Set 8-10 on a page with a lot of space
- Set company names large at 36-48 point to see clearly
- You will need 25-30 typefaces.
- Make them as different as possible
Be sure to experiment with different cases:
- Upper Case
- Lower Case
- Mixed Case
- Mixing fonts

Experiment with final namesLook Up Words
Or maybe you want to research more about a word in your businesses name, “Emporium”. What is an emporium, where are there emporiums, is there any famous ones, etc. If you have a business that only uses local goods, research what local means, what supporting local goods can do for a community, the positive impact, etc. Take notes on things you learned and keywords that stood out to you. Expand on your keywords before sketching again.
