Receipts
One thing that I find interesting about receipts during this reading is that they usually seem to denote the transfer of money. Receipts all seem to have some sort of exchange of money attached to them, whether it is for a service a good or something else it shows an exchange of money. But I wonder if a receipt can be more than just an exchange of money, can It show some piece of history or some other important event. In other words, receipts usually show a thing, but can they show something more than that?
My personal experience with receipts is that I’ve never really given them much thought. I’ve often chosen to not receive a receipt and I am of the belief that they cause more environmental harm than good. However, I think that this reading brings up a good point about keeping a record, potentially one day the forms of digital storage that we have now will become faulty and lose our information. When receipts were stored on a literal piece of rock it had the ability to last thousands of years. I don’t think the storage in my laptop would last thousands of years, and nor do I think that the corporate overlords would hold onto my receipt in some data center. While you can argue that both forms of storage are fragile, in a primitive way storing receipts on tablets is a little bit more simple which makes it more robust.
