These two works do well with using color. Each poster seems to use a very dark and very light color which almost looks like a perfect black and white look to it. Due to the colors being very dark and very light, the text is very readable. No element in the poster is washed out. The first poster has a great use of pattern as well as flow when talking about Form and Context. From one set of small text to another, the blue spotlight, type of look continues to connect to one and another. The connections all seem to work their way around the large, headline text. In the second poster not only is the text angled different ways to separate them, but the use of white space really organizes the text. The larger numbers being much more bold and white while fitting neatly between the text helps out with the flow.
What I learned about grids that I didn’t know before was as you write on lined paper or make a floor plan on graph paper the lines are used as a guide to help organize your work as the same goes for do grids while working on typographic posters. The grids also help with the white spacing of the text and images on the page. This assists in the overall flow. As a designer, the grid helps and structure and making exact measurements rather than just eyeing the structure. They also assist in leaving white space in areas to not completely fill up a whole page. Not only do they help leaving white space, but the white space has a form, shape or purpose. It’s not whitespace just to be there. Not only do grids exist in work for graphic designers but an example of where else they exist is on streets. In cities or neighbor hoods grids are used to help the flow of traffic.
The aspects of the reading that I could use for my poster is if color is to be added at some point, I would use colors that resemble black and white. My colors would be a very dark and very light to be able to work together to use a great contrast. I would also use contact management, by creating divisions in certain paragraphs and texts to make the content easier to read.
