United States: A country built by British-American colonists who broke from their mother country following the Treaty of Paris in 1783. One of the most powerful nation states, with a steady economic growth and impressive advances in technology.
United Kingdom: The United Kingdom boasts rapid expansion within the 18th and 19th century, even with the loss of the 13 colonies in the United States. They played a leading role in developing parliamentary democracy, and also advancing literature and science. The UK is a founding member of NATO and the Commonwealth of Nations. The YK became the only country to depart the EU in 2020, a movement known as “Brexit”.
South Korea: Korea, a peninsula formerly controlled by Japan before their surrender to the United States and its Allies in 1945, split into two governing styles. South Korea was supported by the US with a democratic government, while North Korea was backed by the Soviet Union with a communist-style government. The two countries were officially separated by a demilitarized zone after a North Korean invasion into South Korea in the 1950s. South Korea has recently been designated by North Korea as “North Korea’s Principal Enemy”.
The story the data tells — what does your data tell you?
The story of this specific data denotes the comparison of these countries’ economies (GDP), their military expenditures, and the amount of land that each country has. These three countries have different cultures and military requirements, comparing them to each other while also keeping in mind their relations with each other creates an interesting train of thought. The USA has the largest military expenditures, especially when looking at their GDP, which is the largest of all three countries. The USA boasts the highest stats of all three countries, and one would deem the size of the country to be the reason. However, the military expenditure rate tells a story of harsh relations and/or governmental decision-making that causes its military to spend the most money.
