Receipt Post

What stood out to me the most in the readings was how long the history of receipts is. I didnt know that early civilization pioneered the idea! I also found it intriguing how their purposes evolved. It started with the customer keeping track of their purchases, I cant belive the merchant didnt care to track who was buying what! Then they were used almost in a way similar to checks to help people transfer their money around, which I thought was really cool. I really like how even though so much time has passed receipts are just as much apart of our lives as they were for humans long long ago, its like we are united by them!

My mom has always been a super analouge person and she has just recently stopped saving every receipt from the purchases she made. I remember when I was younger her having files upon files of saved receipts for everything from the grocery store to big purchases like a new fridge. To this day she still tells me to always get a paper receipt incase something goes wrong with the purchase!

I found this article: What is thermal paper receipt, and how does it work?

When we learned in class that they use thermal ink I was intrigued to see how it works and why they dont use regular ink. Thermal ink is better for receipts becuase its less prone to smudging, costs less than regular ink and has a quick printing time. Thermal ink is a chemical coating that is placed on the paper that gets activated by heat and turns black.
