Watch these video for tips on how to make a great blog post.
Use these guidelines when making posts for the site.
Everything is a design problem and your posts will be evaluated on these criteria.
General
- Use proper categories for all posts (not ‘zero’).
- Use proper capitalization, spelling and grammar.
- Cite the authors for all included example work (if possible).
Paragraphs
- Use simple bolding of headers in most cases.
- Remove colons “:” after headers on their own line as they don’t need them.
- Use shift+return between paragraph header and paragraph to keep them together like this:Header
This is a paragraph.
- Remove all extracharacter returnsbetweenelements.
- Create clear divisions for different sections using headers images and horizontal rules.
- Do not underline text anytime.
- Do not use multiple colors for text or header elements.
Links
- Test all links before publishing.
- Use descriptive link names.
New York Times Article on Scary Summer Movies - Do not use ‘naked’ URL links such as:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/20/movies/scary-movies-summer.html - Links should open a new page.
Images
- Resize huge (over 2000 pixels width or height) images in PhotoShop before uploading. They slow down the site.
- Use medium sized images for design examples (600px or less)
- Use the gallery function for 4 or more images
