Basic Styles in a Magazine Are:

  • Headline: The title of the article. Could be same family or a separate display face. — 60pt
  • Intro/Kicker/Deck: The large text at the beginning of a magazine. Set 2 sentences. — 18pt
  • Credit: Name of author
  • Pull quote: A large salient quote from article. Could be family or display — 18pt
  • Subhead: Beginning of sections. Different weight and same size as body or could be larger.
  • Body Copy: A paragraph from the interview (not lorem ipsum) — 9-11pt
  • Image Captions
  • Byline: Photo and illustration credits
  • Folio: page numbers
  • Running head: name of article and publication (make one up for now)
