Title Sequence Examples

  1. Terrifier 2

Title Sequence Director: David Ayllon

I really enjoyed this sequence because of the text with an outer glow effect and the 80’s styled music gives it a retro feel. The visuals also compliment it and reinforce the main theme of the title sequence.

2. Dead Island 2

Title Sequence Director: Denis Bodart

I thought this sequence was really unique because it has very clean and detailed visuals of very graphic and gorey setting but had a very chilled-out song in the background. It was almost contradicitng the theme of the animation but in a way that it still worked. I think that with different music this animation would have had a very different and possibly scary theme but the relaxed vibe gives it a unique and strange feeling.

3. Deutschland 89

Title Sequence Director: Saskia Marka

I really enjoyed the blending and overlays in this opening. It’s very detailed and the color choice emphasizes every detail and organizes it well. I also like the grunge texture that is layed out through the entire sequence.

4. All About Lily Chou Chou

Title Sequence Director: Shunji Iwai

I think this one is a bit more experiemental and obscure. I like the cryptic nature of the text and how it comes up as text messages. I also really like how the visuals are very atmospheric and the music makes everything feel dream-like. This captures a mood that I feel very close to.

5. Shutter Island

Title Sequence Director: Randy Balsmeyer

This one was very simple but it still works. I honestly would have liked to see more visuals as it was mainly just text. I think that the island could have been a really big visual and big oppurtunity to make it stand out.
