- Title of your animation: Adventures With Callie and Bebo
- Artist/Title of the music: Rice Crackers- Aves
- Brief description of your animation: My animation includes rotoscopes of my African grey parrot, Bebo, as well as my cat, Callie going to different places together. In the end, they end up in a car, which screeches away.
- Describe techniques used in your animation: For my animation, I used rotoscoping on my bird, cat, and a toy car. I also played with the positioning of each of the images so they slid away in a fun way. Finally, I played with opacity to get Bebo and Callie off of the screen in the end so the viewer could focus on the car driving away.
- Explain challenges and how you overcame them: During this project, I faced a few challenges. First of all, I found that all of my videos I was rotoscoping did not have the proper frame rate to be able to rotoscope them properly. I was able to easily overcome this by changing the frame rate for each composition. Another obstacle I encountered was the fact that I accidentally recorded Bebo and Callie vertically instead of horizontally so Bebo’s beak gets cut off in the animation. In order to work my way around this issue, I was able to strategically place Bebo so you can’t really tell where his beak cuts off. Another obstacle I struggled with was the fact that Callie and Bebo didn’t really interact throughout my animation. I found that this made it look as if my animation was two separate clips that had nothing to do with each other. In order to work around this issue, I had Bebo fly around the screen so he could interact with Callie more. I then put them in a car so they seemed more “together.” Finally, I struggled with rotoscoping the toy car in the final scene of my animation, as it was very finicky and wouldn’t let me rotoscope it in the same file as the rest of my animation. In order to work around this issue, I made a separate file for the toy car and rotoscoped it while it was by itself. After, I placed it into my composition with the rest of my animation. Overall, I think I worked around these obstacles very well and I am very proud of my end result! 🙂
