Medium is the Massage

What I found most interesting about this reading is that it is from 1967. To me reading the pages that I did it felt contemporary, it ponders social issues that are extremely prevalent today. What is real? Do we have any privacy? How are we all connected? What do electronics do to us? How does the media alter our thinking? All of these questions are ones that are at the forefront of most peoples minds, which makes me question how long have these kinds of questions been on our mind. Is that what it means to be human? To question the reality in which we live in? In particular I resonate some of the issues within this reading with our current age of AI, this line stood out to me “Our time is a time for crossing barriers, for erasing old categories – for probing around” I don’t have much ground to stand on saying this, but I think historically crossing barriers and erasing old categories has lead to advancement that is generally good. So I ponder what this all means today? Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Will crossing the AI barrier make us run back in the other direction? Run forward? Only time will tell.
