Vector vs Raster
I actually had no idea there was a difference between these two image types because I honestly didn’t know they existed. Now after reading the article, I am confident in my abilities to recognize a vector or raster image. A vector image uses lines and points to make an image or logo. A raster image is made up of PIXELS and lots of them. Each of the file formats are considered raster or vector even though there is some cross over.
RGB vs CMYK
Again, the only thing I knew about CMYK was that it is used to print. We have a printer at home, and I remember it was ALWAYS out of magenta ink. I understand now that CMYK is used to print out final designs into the real world and onto clothes or other objects. RGB is used for the digital world of color like logo designs, profile pics, digital graphics, etc.
What would I be? Raster or Vector?
I think I would be a vector image, preferably a PDF. Being in architecture for a while taught me not only the importance of a PDF file, but the satisfaction you get when you FINALLY get to turn your work into a PDF. I want to be the final product, the satisfactory win on the flash drive.
How do I use Images?
I love to take pictures! I am constantly taking pictures through “my eyes” because I want to save that moment in time forever. I also had to take hundreds of pictures of my architecture models and drawings and upload them as all different file types. I f-ed up a few times and used jpegs on final print outs for architecture and they came out HORRIBLE… lesson learned.
