Hey, I didn’t realize we were supposed to post for the faculty lecture, but since we just had another one I wanted to reflect on this one. I thought it was super interesting looking at John’s work with his collections. I like how it relates to your work, Randall, and I never thought two people could share such a niche interest. I really enjoyed seeing the random collections that genuinely looked so beautiful and told such a story. I think the collection that interested me the most was the clothes his girlfriend didn’t want him wearing any longer, so she hid them and then he photographed them with the reason. It was playful but told a story and the photographs were crystal clear pulling the story together in a beautiful way.
Miles’s work was unique and interesting but didn’t resonate with me as much as some of the other faculty work. I think I need to have a sit-down conversation with him about the context of Chad Bentley and then maybe I would enjoy it more. I think the concept is cool, but I find the product a bit weird. I don’t know! Just my opinion.
Anyways, really cool to see everyone’s work.
