How to make a gallery on the class site
Create a gallery of work by your designer.

Due Sunday, November 16

Part 1
Write a 200 word paragraph about your assigned graphic designer. Reference published material, but bring your personal insight and thoughts into your writing. Pay particular attention to the the designer’s approach or methodology, the context in which they worked. How did the work of this designer connect to the audience of the period?

Please mind the spelling and grammar. Don’t forget to include your primary research links.

Part 2
Highlight three distinctive and signature points that you learned about that person. These are details which gave you insight into the designer and their work as outlined in the first part above. Be succinct.

Part 3
Create a gallery of 5-9 important works by that designer. Identify the following in the caption:

  1. Name of Designer
  2. Name of work
  3. year
  4. other relevant details

Example gallery  below:

S Image Book Imposed

Printing at Redball

Create an imposed PDF of your image book to print at RedBall. Imposition is the process of rearranging the pages to create a saddle-stitched (stapled) booklet.

For Wednesday, print two Image books at Redball. You amy choose which ones are the best, but one must use the images you photographed yourself. I find that the color enhanced images work best most of the time but you can decide if black and white or tinted are better.

Your Name
Your name must be on the back page of the book in the format: “Firstname Lastname / Fall2015”.  Set it in 8pt Helvetica Bold. Be sure to reset the tracking (see below) to ‘0’ as inDesign sets it to ‘100’ by default. Place your name in alignment with the grid in a place that is supported by the geometric trajectory of the design. Don’t place it too close to a trim edge or you may crop it!

Print at RedBall
After you create your imposed PDF (see videos below), email your imposed files to redball@keene.edu. Use these instructions:

Dana

Please print these two files:

1 copy each
color laser
100% scale (please don’t fit to page)
8.5 x 11” horizontal
centered duplex
top-edge flipped

Due Wednesday, November 4

Two 100% scale, 8.5 x 11” horizontal, centered duplex, top-edge flipped color laser prints. Do not cut or otherwise manipulate the prints. Just bring them to class.
